Kulturell Dagsutflykt – fredag 7 augusti

Pa fredag har vi kulturell dags utflykt. Igår åkte vi till Strömsholm slott på middagen och till Arboga Medetida Veckan på efermiddagen.

Strömsholm slott

Originally the Queen’s castle in the 17th century it later became a riding school for the Swedish army. The building which is a museum is a remnant of what it once was but close to what it originally started as. When the King died the Queen had the castle enlarged with extra wings and building. But they have mainly rotted away and the central part remains and it quite lovely.

We had two tour guides – one in Swedish for the advanced students and the A1-2 students had English.

Arboga Medeltida Veckan

There were stalls of handicrafts in several parks in the village of Arboga as well as people dressed in middle age clothing and offering entertainments and displays about life in the middle ages. We were free to wander about the village to see the various exhibitions and stalls. The finale was a joust by the Arboga Riddarna.

When all was done we got back on our bus but sadly on the way out the bus scrapped the underside of a bridge and the air conditioning was damaged so we had an unexpected stop while the driver repaired the damage.

We got back to Uppsala about an hour later than expected.
