Going to learn Swedish with Uppsala International Summer Session.

Friday 24 July 2026

So with encouragement from Judith I applied to attend a 3wee course in Swedish with UISS. I booked extra days before and after the class weeks.

So Diny offered to drive me to Birmingham Airport for 2.00am. And I caught the 6.00am RyanAir flight.

When I arrived in Stockholm a former colleague of Judith, Camilla, met me and drove me to Uppsala. While pointing out the central train station she parked the car in a 4hr space to discover we were in front of the Centralstation Vandrarhem which was my hotel! Serendipity!

So we went and they booked me in and let me have the room at 10am rather than making me wait till 3pm. Camilla was also loaning me bedding and towels for the 3 weeks of the course.

So after unloading her car, Camilla treated me to breakfast at a konditertori along side the Fyrisån river. What a wonderful start to my holiday.

After sharing stories and enjoying frukost, we wandered through the main streets while Camilla pointed out the sites for me to visit later. When we got back to the hostel, I thanked her and we exchanged phone numbers. Then I went in to catch ip on my sleep.

Later in the afternoon and evening I went out to see some of the city including the Dom Krycka which was hosting a Danish choir and I arrived to hear their last song.

And then went back to the other side of the river.

Tina, you deserve to have a lovely time and it looks like a brilliant start with friends to drive you and meet you and take you for breakfast.
