The weather forecast was for showers so we planned to take the bus to Glendurgan Gardens.
But first Judith got up to do the Park Run which was at the University in Penryn. The 5k run there was up and down a hill 3 times 😳 I am glad I haven’t developed this addiction. Next Saturday she will be in the Park Run in Leazes Park in Newcastle with her son and grandson. At least that will be flat.
So Saturday we set off about 11.30 on a new bus route in a different direction. The garden now belongs to the National Trust. It was started in 1820 by a prosperous Quaker family who earned their family money through their Packet Ship business. The garden stayed with the family until 1962 when the family gifted it to the National Trust in order to preserve it for the public.

River.

The bottom of the garden leads to Durban Village where Alice Fox, the wife of the original owner opened and ran a school for local children. It has a lovely beach, several homes and a mystery of how the cars get into the village.
After enjoying a break on the beach we went up the other side of the garden.

The pond opposite the maze.

It was a fascinating garden with a lot of plants were new to us.
And we ended pur day with a savoury cheese tea – a cheese scone, carmelised red onion chutney and a slice of strong cheddar cheese with a pot of tea. And of course the bus ride back to Falmouth
