This year we are celebrating Judith’s 80th year by touring to Parkruns around the UK and hopefully abroad. January was too wet and cold to travel in the hope that the weather would allow a ParkRun. Even her home run – Cannon Hill Park in Birmingham was cancelled at least twice and once she elected not to run in the horizontal rain trying to blow everything out of its way.
So for Valentine’s Day we caught the train to Loughborough:
1. to see Making Connections a Midlands Textile Forum exhibition in the Sock Gallery; and
2. for Judith to join in the Disley Parkrun at Loughborough Rugby Club.
Making Connections
Two friends are members if the Midlands Textile Forum and it is always good to be able to see the group’s exhibitions. There are about 8 members and they all work in very different media and styles. I know Sarah Cage from the Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers, and Bernice Hopper from Littleheath Barn Studio. Having seen their works in progress in recent years it was lovely to see them on display.

Saturday morning Judith went to her first out of town Parkrun for the year in Loughborough at the Rugby Club and as it rained the day before (if not the whole week) before it was very muddy. I supported her from the safety of the Travel Lodge 🥹 as we have a busy March planned and we didn’t want to risk me having a chest infection.

It was a good start to being Parkrun tourist—-the Loughborough team and regulars were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Looking forward to more new adventures.
